Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 16 December
City View Dr, Lancaster - 10am - 2 Hours
Lancaster Photography Group
Mason Romero
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

It was a very one take type of scenario, not knowing the owner or seeing the car before I only had a couple second to get a good shot before he drove off. Thankfully I got a shot of this viper I was happy with. Captured with a Nikon d750, using a 20-300mm nikor lens

My morning ritual is to put out our bird feeder every morning while waiting for my coffee to brew. We have a cardinal who waits nearby each morning as he is normally one of the first to the feeder as soon as it is set up. I took this picture of him one morning before 7 am as he watched and waited for his morning snack. I believe he has begun his annual molting.Picture captured with my Canon R7, RF800 F11 IS STM Lens combination. Settings were 1/125 sec, f/11, ISO 6400, focal length of 800mm

The resulting standing water gives a great reflection in reverse.45mm 1/30 f4

I was testing out a new backdrop that I purchased for a family mini Christmas shoot that I have coming up. I used to make my children be my models but since they are grown Zeus, my boxer, was such a good boy and was my model. This was shot on a Canon EOS 6D with the EF 24-105mm f/4L at 24mm, ISO 320, 1/160. I used two Alien B800 strobes with white umbrellas.

In 1989 I started a tradition of Photos with Santa. At the time I was Public Relations Director and Event coordinator for Bless Keller, later to merge with Dilbeck Realtors as Director of P.R. and Special Events. When I started this event we had 3 offices and Santa and I would show up at each office for a Holiday Party and Free Santa Photos. This was a client appreciation event as well as an introduction event to our communities. Over the years we increased our locations to 14 offices. This
